Umami Hambaagu House

Recently, Umami Hambaagu House has announced that they will close their doors to the public for good; this meant that japanese hamburg fans have only until this May to partake of their well-loved menu, and being a first-timer, it was imperative that I be able to try their dishes before the afformentioned closing date.

"If you don't you'll regret it forever."

Cute and colourful trinkets greet you as soon as you enter the shop.

Some beloved japanese characters such as Rilakuma & an-pan man decorate the shelves.

Japanese animation and amusing variety shows are played continuously on the flat screen tv's around the restaurant.

More kawaii goods give the interior a comfortable and homey vibe.

Japanese animation DVDs for your viewing pleasure.

"Monster art" and other japanese inspired wall decors.

Just one of the amusing and quirky points to be found all over the restaurant.

Even the menu cover is designed to please the visual senses.

The kids' plates can be enjoyed by both young and old alike; with character designs which will appeal to people of all ages.

Dolphin Plate - 230 php*
2 pcs of shrimp tempura on a bed of curry and rice. The rice is shaped to look like a dolphin, hence the name of the plate. Very cute!

*(prices shown are exclusive of VAT)

There are also pieces of cheese cut into interesting shapes which are placed all around the curry. Yum! Curry and cheese is always a delicious combination.

Battousai Hamburg set - 345 php*

Roasted tomatoes and bell pepper cream sauce on a burger patty.

Takeshi's Castle Hamburg set - 345 php*

Bonito flakes, seaweed, bbq sauce and japanese mayo on a burger patty.

Cowboy Bushi Hamburg Set - 350 php*

Western gravy and fresh mushrooms on a burger patty. The cream sauce made the meat more mouth-watering paired in harmony with the mushrooms. It is a must try!

Chocolate & Oreos - 140 php*

It was a very filling meal as we were almost unable to finish all of the dishes. Each hamburg set comes with steamed japanese rice, sesame salad, fat french fries and salted edamame. You can even ask for seconds of the salad which goes great with their house sesame dressing.

Dancing Latte - 140 php*

This cold coffee dessert drink got it's name from the wiggling coffee jellies on top of the whipped cream, and from the swirling illusion that is made at the bottom of the glass as the drink is stirred. It's a refreshing and creamy treat made especially for coffee lovers.

Deconstructed Tiramisu - 180 php

A very amusing dessert drink! It is prepared by pouring drip coffee on top of the ice cream and tiramisu. Watch as the hot liquid seeps through the layers of the crushed graham, cream, chocolate and cherry syrup.

Spoon through the mixture and enjoy the blend of hot and cold infusions. Truly magnificent!

Presentation is a recurring factor in this restaurant, even as the meal ends. Guests receive the check inside these interesting metal canisters.

Receipts are delivered via miniature shopping carts. Indeed, it is a very adorable restaurant!

Umami has extended their closing date until May 31, 2014 so interested patrons still have a few more days to drop by for their final visit.
