Kooky & Luscious

Tucked in the midst of Ayala Avenue, this cozy little cafe offers a plethora of comfort food, from pasta to rice dishes as well as sandwiches, and of course desserts. Perfect for a quick lunch out or coffee break with co-workers along this busy avenue in Makati.

Living up to the name; cookies make up a part of their line of desserts.

Roasted Vegetable Lasagne - 150 php

Breaded Pork Chop - 160 php

One of their best selling desserts, this frozen treat will please the pallet as well as the senses. The decorative raspberry syrup marries well with the bittersweet qualities of the cool & creamy chocolate mousse. One bite is all there is to realize the origin of it's name.

Chocolate Dementia - 150 php

Sinful almost to the point of dementia. I like to think of this cake as one of the must-try desserts in the heart of the business district.

The cafe has a 2nd floor to further accommodate more patrons.

Cuptails

Welcome to Cuptails! At first it looks like your everyday cute little cupcake shop...

With a huge array of colourful sweets...

cafe drinks...

a cup of hot tea perhaps?

more cute sweets...

..even a picturesque cupcake bouquet..

as well as varied savory dishes & salads...

But when one comes to the counter for a closer look...There seems to be a more grown-up vibe a midst all the fluffy cupcakery cuteness. Yep, its cocktails infused with alcohol! and the good thing is that you can enjoy these alcoholic lovelies during anytime of the day. Their cupcake selection is very extensive comprising of all the classic favourite cocktails in cupcake form, although the availability of some flavours depends on the rotation for the day.

Chocolate cupcake spiked with vodka with a creamy frosting. So good! One of the best sellers!

Cosmopolitans. A Sex & the City staple!

Also One of the best sellers: Screaming O cupcakes. It has Belgian chocolate, coffee liquor, vodka & irish cream~

Obviously one of the cutest cupcakes which comes with it's own miniature umbrella. It really lives up to it's name :D

Non-alcoholic cupcakes are available too which are equally as adorable!~

One of the best sellers in the alcohol-free cupcake division. How can you go wrong with chocolate and banana? yummyyyy

We tried their Screaming O and Margarita cupcakes. You can really taste the irish cream in the screaming O's and it was so awesome we had seconds :D The Margarita cupcake was a refreshing palette cleanser with the right amount of kick for the tastebuds. deeelicious!

Roasted Kalabasa with Malunggay pesto soup - 130 php

A medley of kalabasa, malunggay, & coconut milk with dollops of pesto. Yum!

I'm a fan of kalabasa and malunggay and having this soup in coconut cream was a different experience altogether. Great!

Baked dory pomodoro - 200 php

penne, pomodoro, cream, dory fillet. thumbs up!

Tuna Melt Sandwich - 150 php

Tuna, capers, olives and kesong puti in ciabbata bread. comes with a side of chips :D

Vegetarian Lasagna - 155 php

Lasagna, pomodoro, kangkong cream & cheese. Heavenly; if it weren't for the generous helpings of eggplant & veggies, I would have totally judged this as extremely sinful.

Dark Chocolate Espresso - 130 php

One of their best selling drinks. For now it's only available hot, but its sooo creamy and delicious! Perfect comfort drink!

Cuptails is an awesome place to eat hearty meals, catch up with friends with a cup of coffee or simply just indulge in your favourite cupcake fantasy!

For the month of May, Cuptails is treating guests to a Cupcake Happy Hour(6-7pm) with discounts on their favourite cupcakes. Great time to have a cuptail!~

Bugong

I love good fusion food. And having seen kimchi, chicken & thai noodles all under one roof, I decided to try Bugong.

The menu appears to be a myriad of thai & korean influenced cooking, but their roast chicken is the star of the show. Marinated with 18 different herbs & spices, and with no MSG or artificial flavour enhancers, it is available in whole, family or regular sizes. The meals however, come in quarter or single(1/8) cuts.

You can choose from 3 types of rice.

They also offer an extensive breakfast menu like toasted bagels served with coffee.

Side dishes of fruit salad, kimchi & macaroni salad.

For dessert why not try some red velvet cupcakes? Recently they are also offering thai halo halo as a refreshingly sweet end to your meal.

The restaurant is mostly bathed in a festive orange hue.

A cute herb garden to brighten up the interior.

Some Thai influenced decors.

Macaroni and cheese with breaded chicken fillet - 80 php

Cheese sauce on penne pasta. You can also opt for sliced sausages as an alternative topping.

Bugong Asian Combo - 112 php (single) 148 php (quarter)

One of their best sellers, the Bugong Asian combo. Roast chicken served with asian fresh noodles and choice of seasoned rice. I had the single serving of chicken and chose kimchi rice for my plate; the rice was quite spicy and it seemed to have some shrimp paste mixed in which made for a pungent aftertaste. Quite interesting.

Each plate comes with a glass of iced tea. Good value for money and equally filling, but chicken patrons would be better off  to consider getting a bigger cut of the roast :)
